Abysmal Weather Update
We weathered the storm pretty good. About 4″of rain fell in a 24 hour period, but the real threat though was the high winds. Fortunately other than blowing over several port-a-potties, the only real damage was done to the roof of the old Pacific Coast box car # 1516. It is believed that this car was originally built by American Car & Foundry for the Florence & Cripple Creek. It later served the Nevada-California-Oregon Railway before the PCRy acquired it in the 1920’s.
The #1516 is not in that great of shape, having been retired and converted into a shed in the 1940’s it had been allowed to deteriorate. The current plan now is put together a volunteer week end to rebuild the roof and stabilize what is left of this car. Stay tuned for more.
